Nairah Tambie – Youth Sustainability Leadership

President, Batang Transformers Association-Lanao Chapter

Currently a 4th year BS Accountancy student at Mindanao State University Marawi Main, Nairah participated in different organizations, which led her to discover her leadership skills. During the Marawi Siege, as a student leader in their community, she started her advocacy to empower her fellow youth. One thing that made her stand firm is how she saw the vulnerability in the citizens of their community. And on the face of crises, she believes that having empowered people — specifically empowered youth leaders — will lead us to the sustainable, innovative, and resilient community we dreamt of.

With these, Nairah became the President of Batang Transformers Association – Lanao Chapter, the Vice President of External Affairs of Association of Registered Campus Student Organizations, and the Local Coordinator of United States Grantees Alumni Association – Ranao Chapter. In addition, she’s also the founder and advisor of three (3) youth organizations that promote community involvement among youth:

1. The Organization of Genuine Outreach Program (OGOP), which empowers senior high school students from Mindanao State University – Senior High School to participate in community initiatives

2. The Federation of Ranaw Youth Student Leaders (FRYSL), a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging student participation in peace and community development, and;

3. The Bangsamoro PeaceMovers, which empowers students from Madrsahs and Torils (Islamic Schools) to participate in community initiatives

Witnessing the youth find their way in advocating for their belief and fueled by determination in helping and implementing projects for a cause, made Nairah’s years of service worthwhile. “The creation of three (3) active youth organizations in our community is an achievement, I will forever be proud of.” she shared.

Nairah believed that a sustainable country,

... is one capable of implementing progressive agenda.”

For her, if we have an efficient plan while using the given resources and manpower we have — accessing it without compromising the future — we can slowly achieve it.

Nairah looked up to Mrs. Sittie Aisah Baicon Cayongcat-Nuska as her sustainability leader. For her, she is one of the humblest leaders she knew, who introduced her to the way of advocacy. Mrs. Cayongcat-Nuska serves as Nairah’s role model as she continues to grow in this field and showcase the great qualities of an effective youth leader.

Nairah is grateful that she’s working in this wonderful sector in achieving sustainability. While leading the change and meeting many brilliant leaders, she wanted to leave a message of hope and encouragement,

I hope they will continue working in this sector in the future, raise awareness in their communities, invite other aspiring sustainability leaders, continue leading their community toward sustainability, and, finally, I encourage them to collaborate with other leaders and organizations to reach more.

Nairah is the reflection of hope for the future leaders of this country. With that, let’s continue to inspire the youth to become changemakers.

See how Nairah led the change on her social!
